Miracle on Main Street

For over 20 years, the Junior League has put on a “toy sale” in our community for families who might not otherwise have holiday gifts for their children over the holidays. Throughout the year, we collect new or gently-used toys, bikes, play houses, games, puzzles, dolls, and books. After the fall Friends of the Library (FOL) book sale, we fill the FOL warehouse from front to back with all of these items. On the first Saturday of December, families bring a voucher provided by local community agencies and go through the warehouse with a personal shopper.

The 2016 Miracle on Main Street was a rousing success! A few notable facts:

  • Served more than 200 families
  • Including more than 700 children

Sponsor a Bike and More

The holiday shop features donated toys for children of all ages, including big ticket items such as bicycles. Bikes are an incredibly popular gift at our event! Please consider helping us by sponsoring a bike for $60 (this purchase is considered a donation).

You may want to sponsor a family for $120. This option, also entirely tax deductible, will allow you to fund an entire family’s holiday gifts. There’s also an option to sponsor a toy for $30.

We are bringing back our corporate sponsorship this year as well. At a variety of levels, a local company can become a corporate sponsor. This sponsorship provides the funds to purchase toys, bikes, and other necessary goods and services for our event. Corporate sponsors will receive acknowledgment in all publicity, including but not limited to print advertising, social media posts, and event signage.

Donate Toys

You can also help by donating new or gently-used toys or bikes for the Miracle on Main Street event. Bring them by the Junior League office or Thrift Store any time during our open hours (Wednesdays—Saturdays: 10am–6:30pm). If you have further questions, please contact the Junior League office for more details at office@gainesvillejrleague.org.
