Miracle on Main Street
The Jr. League Miracle on Main Street takes some stress out of the holiday season by providing new toys to qualified families who are in need.
Throughout the year, League members solicit donations of new toys, and spend countless hours cleaning, assembling and sorting toys and games in preparation for the toy sale. By providing toys to a segment of the population most in need, the Jr. League continues its tradition of serving the children of Alachua County.
Donors can bring their toys year-round to the Jr. League Thrift Shop during business hours.

Thrift Shop Voucher Program
First opened in 1935, the Jr. League Thrift Shop continues to be a primary source of funding for us. Donations by Jr. League members and the community at large provide toys, household goods and apparel (quality casual outfits, professional attire and children's clothing), that are sold at affordable prices. In addition to selling donated items, the Thrift Shop works with various agencies to provide clothing to local families, through our voucher program, interview suits to graduates of the Santa Fe Community College's Displaced Homemakers Program, and coats to local children.

Kids In The Kitchen
In 2006, Junior Leagues implemented a League-wide initiative called Junior Leagues’ Kids in the Kitchen designed to help our communities address the urgent issues surrounding childhood obesity and poor nutrition. By joining together to make an impact on the future health of our youth, Junior Leagues helped to heighten awareness and recognition of the power and heritage of our international organization. The event was coordinated by The Association of Junior Leagues International Inc., with activities culminating during Volunteer Week, April 23-29, 2006.
In its first year, over 225 Leagues across four countries participated in the Junior Leagues’ Kids in the Kitchen program with media coverage reaching over 80 million people with messages about the issues surrounding childhood obesity and the Junior League’s initiative to address these. Due to the success of its first year and the overwhelming need to address this important issue facing today’s youth, we decided to continue the Junior Leagues’ Kids in the Kitchen program in 2007. With the help of program sponsor, Cartoon Network, and celebrity spokespersons like George Stella, the program has made over 450 million media impressions to date.
Our Junior Leagues’ Kids in the Kitchen initiative aims to continue making an impact in this area by educating the public at the grassroots level regarding solutions to address childhood obesity. Junior Leagues across the Association will provide lessons and demonstrations related to preparation of healthy meals and snacks that are tasty, easy to prepare and affordable. Leagues will conduct their educational programs in partnership with local community organizations and promote media coverage in order to raise awareness and provide solutions for this growing problem.
